Use vertical strokes when washing windows outside and horizontal
for inside windows. This way you can tell which side has the
streaks. Straight vinegar will get outside windows really
clean. Don't wash windows on a sunny day. They will dry too
quickly and probably streak.
2. Permanent
marker on appliances/counter tops can be removed by using
alcohol on a paper towel.
3. To
remove a white ring from a wood table, a bit of salad oil
on a cloth does the trick.
4. For
fresher smelling blankets: before tucking your heavy winter
blankets away in the spring, place a fabric softener sheet
betwen the folds. They'll smell nice and fresh next winter
when it's time to put them back on the beds.
5. For
longer lasting flowers add a mixture of 2 tablespoons vinegar
and 1 teaspoon sugar to 1 quart of vase water. The vinegar
kills the bacteria and the sugar nourishes the flowers.
6. No
more tears: put onions in the freezer for 15 minutes befoe
you're ready to slice them, The cold reduces the vapor released
from the onions when you cut them, so you won't cry.
7. Ring-free
tub: pour a capful of baby shampoo into your bath as the water
runs. The shampoo eliminates the ring around the tub, plus
you'll have a bubble bath.
8. Fresher
spices: store paprika, chili powder and ground ginger in the
refrigerator. Once opened, they tend to lose their flavor
quickly.
9. To
cut a freshly baked cheesecake, use a long string of dental
floss and bring it down slowly through the cake. It makes
perfect slices, and keeps the cake looking great.

prevent egg shells from cracking, add a pinch of salt to the
water before hard boiling.
2. Spray
your Tupperware with non-stick cooking spray before pouring
in tomato based sauces...no more stains.
3. To
keep potatoes from "budding", place an apple in
the bag with the potatoes.
4. When
a cake mix recipe calls for flouring the baking pan, use a
bit of the dry cake mix instead of flour...it avoids the white
mess on the outside of the baked cake.
5. If
you accidently over salt a recipe while it's still cooking,
drop in a peeled potato. It absorbs the excess salt for an
instant 'fix up".
6. Place
a slice of apple in hardened brown sugar to soften it back
up.
7. Wrap
celery in aluminum foil before putting it in the refrigerator.
It will keep the celery fresh alot longer.
8. To
get the most juice out of a fresh lemon, bring it to room
temperature and roll it under your palm against the kitchen
counter before squeezing.

bread is baking, a small oven safe dish of water in the oven
will help to keep the crust from getting too hard.
2.The
whites of eggs will whip more readily if a pinch of salt is
added to them. If the eggs are placed in cold water for a
time before being broken, they will whip easily.
3. To
avoid lumps in the batter, add a pinch of salt to the flour
before it is wet.
4. If
an egg has a thin shell or is chipped and is likely to crack
when being boiled, add a few drops of vinegar to the water.
5. To
keep soft cookies soft, put a piece of bread in the cookie
jar with the cookies.
6. If
parsley is washed with hot water instead of cold, it retains
its flavor and it is easier to chop.
7.When
making soup, remember the maxim: Soup boiled is soup spoiled.
The soup should be cooked gently and evenly.
8.When
cleaning windows, add a little vinegar to the water and you
will be surprised at the brilliant polish it produces.
